How to teach Adults Course


Are you keen to teach? Join our hands-on course covering creating a learning climate, how adults learn, group interactions, course planning and evaluation - suitable both for those already tutoring adults or planning to start.


The last course this year is being held at Rutherford College on Saturday 16 and 23 September 9am to 5pm

Cost is $175 and subsidies are available to members of ASCEA. Talk to your school co-ordinator for more information

Minimum Age:You must be a minimum age of 16 to join the classes.                                                                     

ESOL Classes: Fees advertised are for NZ residents. (Passports required)  |  Non-residents pay 30% extra for all ESOL classes (No Passport required)

Payment of Fees: Full fees must be paid at the time of enrolment. Your space in a course is not confirmed until payment is received.  No discounts are given for students who start late or miss a class. Fees are GST inclusive.

Cancelled Classes: All courses need a minimum number of enrolments to run. Courses are cancelled if there are insufficient enrolments. Every effort will be made to inform enrolled students.

Refunds / Missing Classes: You can withdraw (and be refunded your fees less a $15 admin), provided you do this at least 5 working days before your class starts. NO refunds will be given after this. NO refunds will be given once a course has commenced. If you miss a class, we do not provide catch-up or make-up classes. If you cannot attend a session, we do not allow someone else to take your place. 

First Day/Night of Classes: Please come to the Community Education Office on your first day / night of class. From there you will shown to your classroom. Enrolled students will receive a map by email showing them where the Com Ed Office is located within the MRGS campus.

Reminders of class starting: We do not send out reminders to students concerning class commencement. You will only hear from us if your class is cancelled. 

Statistics: Students are required to complete a Statistics Form for Courses that receive government funding.  

Publicity: From time to time, photographs are taken of clases in progress. These are intended for publcity purposes only. Students are not identified by name on any publication.

Changes to the programme: While every effort is made to keep to what is advertised in this brochure or on our website, we reserve the right to make changes eg. dates, tutors, times etc. Enrolled students will be informed.

Public Holidays: Classes are not held on public holidays.
